21-23 Oct (Fri-Sun) - "Faith in Action on the Death Penalty" Weekend

The joint Amnesty International and PA Abolitionists United Against the Death Penalty committee is forging ahead on plans for the 2005 National "Faith in Action on the Death Penalty" Weekend. The committee has expanded to include representatives from Presbyterian, Methodist, Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopal and Jewish faiths. Following last yearÍs successful action when more than 100 churches were contacted and a major forum was held, the committee this year is planning a highly-visible vigil in Oakland at Fifth and Craig Sunday, October 23 with signs displaying messages against the death penalty. Some 50 churches will be contacted personally to encourage death penalty activities on that day. Suggested themes will be sent out to churches for sermons on Sunday, October 16th preceding the weekend. For further information call D. Miller at 412-681-8528.
